I purchased both the 1000mW 802.11g version and this 2000mW 802.11g/n version. This 2000mW version performs just as well as my internal wifi card that came with my laptop while the g version actually does improve signal by 5x. I have poor signal strength with this and excellent with the g. the antenna also works with the older version but adds little to no signal. It is clear to me that if you want signal strength or to connect to networks farther away than your current adapter can handle, go with the 1000mW 802.11g.

I see different people where some say great and some say disappointed...for me it was great. My home office is in a detached garage ~200' from my WiFi router (a LinkSys WRT610N) inside the house. My signal strength was low from my office before receiving my 2000mW 2W 802.11g/n High-Gain USB Wireless G / N Long-Range WiFi adapter.
Now my signal strength is excellent and I even pick up 2-3 neighbors' WiFi which is saying something as I live in the middle of ~20 acres of woods.
My work laptop is a Leveno T410 where I was using the built-in WiFi N adapter previously. The O/S is XP-32 Pro
All I had to do to setup this WiFi adapter was to plug it into a USB port...the PnP service told me I had a new device...I inserted the mini-CD which came with the adapter and I was done. Could not have been easier where I am very pleased!!! :)

This booster worked wonders. It has independent Mac address, so make sure your wifi is not Mac filter. The detachable 9db gain antenna was well worth the money. The software was easy to navigate, only thing i have not figured out as of yet is to ghost the Mac so i don't hog up two Mac slot on the router.

Important Driver Installation:
If you get an error while Installing the Drivers press OK, then Exit. Then do the following:
Right-click on your CD Drive and select Explore
For Windows, double-Click on the application file in this folder (the file name atarts with "IS_AP_STA_RT2870......) then follow the installation instructions.
For Mac and Linux open their folder and then run the application.
Or you can got to the manufactures website, then click on "Support" and on the left side click on "Drivers" and download.
